manilla>portland

said our goodbyes to the beautiful northern california coast
but were soon greeted by the lush rivers of the northwest
getting into oregan in late afternoon, we found ourselves hungry.  despite usual ways of frugality, ken's sidewalk cafe looked to good to pass by
it was everything we could have hoped for and more.
nice napkin dispensers to boot
couldn't pass up cabelas either...
b-vis does some shopping
greeted by a hot summer evening in portland.  good thing this town ain't dry.

healthier bike culture here than SF
tripped around this place for hours.  remarkable selection.
even books about shore fishing halibut in alaska
finished it off with some refreshments and tots at rogue
the OREgasmica
and a pilsner

SF>Manilla

a quick stop at wild flour bread, in freestone is always vital.
the friendly, happy, down home crew
and their garden out the back...

mulberries
amaranth

then to sf...
secret gardens...
and pop top elements

and fine dining
bay berry
across the 128, through anderson valley

and into boonville...
a quick pitstop for a refreshment, and lesson in the local language; boontling

the finest barstools around
out to the coast, and it was calm and sunny...

make our way into manilla by early evening, in time for our gracious host scooter to show us how it's done
beachy

finished off the salmon
carne asada, awaits.  thanks scott
the view of the sunset on Eureka across the Humbolt bay, from the back deck.

and tomorrow,  Portland ho!
